Week 41- “With a frickin 12 gauge, what do you think!?” -Napoleon Dynamite

It’s my sister Dacia’s 17th birthday this week! Happy birthday. Freak time flies

Sorry to anyone that tried to email me this past week, I’m sure you got some weird email back saying my email was shut down. I’d still love to hear from ya though 💁🏻‍♂️🙋🏻‍♂️

This week consisted of “service” coburger bratwursts, a dope lesson, hopping on the wrong bus, hopping on the wrong train, bearing testimony on the streets, talking with people whether they liked it or not, and ripped pants.

Saturday we were at a family’s house in the ward who has had missionaries over every Saturday for who knows how long. We get there and they were wondering why we didn’t have yard working clothes on and I said because we are missionaries and when you don’t tell us specifically to bring different clothes we don’t. We then proceeded to be dressed up in denim overalls and duck hunting boots. They sent us out into their Black Forest of a yard to pick up sticks so that the lawn can be mowed. It’s ok though because their field is not white and ready to harvest and that field hasn’t seen a lawnmower since the Second World War. We finished up after about an hour of this and the guy proceeded to pull out two huge weed whackers and tells us to cut down everything inside the fence garden line. Luckily he handed us a pair of moldy ear mufflers and some foggy glasses. We proceeded to labor away for another hour in the yard whacking down tall wet grass in our white shirts that slowly became greet with sweat dripping off the glasses. Finally we're allowed to change and eat and then we shared a spiritual thought and bounced out of there. Needless to say, I was a little sour after this appointment and am now trying to organize a ward activity over there so that the missionaries don’t proceed to be part-time yard workers at this house anymore.

Monday we got Elder Whitney all situated Legally to love here in Germany and that all worked out great. He will have his visa in like 3 weeks. Never seen the government so willing to work with us. (Haha sorry Elder Felix, I know you're bitter with this one)
Had a great appointment that day with a guy who can’t make it to church and on the way home I felt like we should go by some less actives on the college and our potential ended up just getting home and we were able to teach the entire first lesson. He ended up saying the closing prayer and expressing his overwhelming joy and curiosity he was feeling towards us and our message and specifically the Book of Mormon. We are way stoked for our boy Gerardo from Quito Equador, we are really hoping he chooses to keep commitments and come closer to Christ.

Rest of the week consisted of a district meeting and contacting. I and Elder Whitney are having a way good time. Training is hilarious and just puts a ton of things in perspective. I read some way cool things this week that I’ll put at the bottom of my email.

Today we are going back to the Puma and Adidas factory store so #RIP
Also, Meek Mill made it out of prison.

Love you guys have a fun week!

“In conclusion, please be assured that senior Church leaders who preside over the divinely appointed purposes of the Church receive divine assistance. This guidance comes from the Spirit and sometimes directly from the Savior.”

Week 40- “You’re my boy Blue!”

Man it’s been a busy one. Found out Saturday morning that I would be training and DL here in Coburg. Me and Elder Augat had so much fun I really miss that kid but he went hard out here and is a mission legend. He earned that plane ticket home for sure. Learned a ton from him. Had a fun past couple days together and had a cool appointment with our investigator Gustaf. Gustaf is a legend. He is from Sweden and the Swedish king referred him to USC for college and their model airplane development program and Gustaf’s wife was a world renowned gymnast on a horse. She was even the U.S. coach for a while.  Such cool people.

Tuesday we went down to Frankfurt and we got to go to the Frankfurt street display which was way fun and then had the meeting that night. Found out I got Elder Whitney. He is sick! From bountiful Utah and he loves to like go climbing around the world and he is a heck of a skater and just loves all that extreme sport stuff. Kid is a beast I love him. Way chill. He also has a hole in his calf from when his brother accidentally shot him with his .22😂😂

I don’t know what else to write. Way stoked for these next two hot humid sweaty transfers with my newby missionary out in the middle of nowhere😅 WOO. One thing I recognized this week is that life doesn’t stop for anybody. Things happen, plans change, people change but the goal is still the same. Just curveballs left and right but that’s God shaping us.
If I’m being honest I’m way nervous for these next couple transfers and training and just knowing it’s going to be an absolute grind but I know that my relationship with my Heavenly Father and savior will become that much stronger because of how much I’m going to have to depend on them. How cool is that going to be?

You guys have a good week. Go jazz

Week 39 - "Missionaries aren’t funny"

Not a lot of time but I’m going to try and recap this week fast!

Friday Elder Augat turned 20!! Taught some lessons on the university and then went to lunch at a say yummy german place. He ordered dessert and after tasting a slight hint on alcohol in the fruit we found out that yes it was vodka. Hahah #classic

Saturday we moved an investigator (Gustaf) and he is so dope! Freaking Plane designer who is 45 and has a way cool family and he is basically a Mormon but he doesn’t want to read the Book of Mormon. Then we taught another first lesson with a different investigator.

Sunday was fast Sunday then we had a member appointment and then we went to a free Christian Church that he goes to. We walked in there and just the entire place was coming up to us like what are you doing? Was such a testimony builder. The church was really modern and nice and felt like an LDS church but they had a band and honestly the church had no direction. I’m so glad for the restoration of the true gospel and prophets and apostles that lead us.

Monday we had a member appointment and they are awesome. Grow their own food and chickens and all that stuff and live in the mountains. Made home made leather covers for my german Bible. I also found out I am not funny. One of the daughters was like “look I’m making a circle!” And I was like “ haha just like a Bible circle” I thought it’d be a way funny reference especially in German (at this point I was waiting for laughter from everyone because I was laughing) I then looked at Elder Augat and he was dying laughing and said “that was such a missionary joke man, we must be going crazy.” Story is, I thought it was hilarious and it just wasn’t. Missionary jokes aren’t funny, I’ve been out here so long and I think that was a good sign for me haha

Tuesday were interviews with President he is an animal! I love that man!

Wednesday was zone conference and I got to see a ton of buddies! Elder Warr, Klein, Bringhurst, Bradshaw, Webster, Chamberlain, Larson just all the boys. Loved it. Talked a lot about the spirit.

Today we had a fun day in Nürnberg and did a ton of shopping and bought myself a liederhose. Pictures to come in the next email!
I love this gospel and I love being a missionary even though some days I feel like I get nowhere with nobody, if god wanted to he could do all the work on his own but that would mean that I have no opportunity for growth and experience.
I’ve been thinking a ton about what President Nelson said about personal revelation and how he said there will soon be a time where if you are not in tune with the spirit and know how to receive personal revelation you will basically be lost.
Review conference it was amazin!
I send Elder Augat home next week and am way sad but I learned a ton from him. He was an amazing missionary in this mission.
I get a new company next week so we will see how that goes!

Week 38-"Big Gulps huh? Well, see ya"

Morgen.
How sick was conference?? Freaking sustaining a new prophet and then he just goes HAM at the pulpit. Roasting people about giving baby prayers instead of baby blessings, telling us how we need personal revelation. Such a solid conference. The apostles teach such simple doctrine so well. I am excited to go back and review the talks.  Still need to watch the last Sunday session but I heard we are getting a ton more temples! The lord is hastening his work, the church is making inspired changes, saints are being tested and their testimonies are being put to the test. It is the latter days people, Buckel up and enjoy the ride. Stay humble, eat your Wheatie’s and read The Book of Mormon.

This week not too much happened, Elder Augat has a jacked up toe and so it has put us in the apartment a lot this week but he’s a champ he’s battling the pain. I was on a split here in Coburg with Elder Garner and I had a feeling that we should go to the university because I haven’t been there yet and we found 3 solid people and have some return appointments. One of the kids is from Ecuador #shoutout Kade Copeland in Ecuador. Contacting and knocking doors on universities are so much fun I love it. Yesterday a man answered and was soooo drunk but he knew who we were so he kept apologizing and then cussing a ton and then apologizing. But we got him to commit to coming to church this next week😂

We had a senior couple call us up on Monday night saying that they want to come check out the old sisters apartment here in Coburg because the mission is closing it down so they came up and then took us to lunch. Such nice people, and they brought me some peanut butter.

Nothing else really happened, but we did a ton of finding this week and found out that Coburg has the nicest Fußgängerzone in Bayern and their coburger bratwurst was rated top in Germany too. This place is beautiful and the people are for the most part really nice. The church needs to grow here in Germany bad!! Pray for the people of Germany and Coburg especially :)
I hope you all go back and review what was said to us in conference. Find your own mustard seed of faith and let it grow. Put your doubts aside and be open to the influence of the spirit. Enjoy the beautiful blessing we have of the Gospel.
Have a good week! I’ll see you all in a year💰🤙🏼🏃🏻🎉
