Week 45- "Riots and what nah"

Speed recap on this one.

Last week we ended p day with district meeting and then a split with my man Elder Rafi Monilla from Saudi Arabia. He is a legend. We taught Lara in the park on a bench Friday afternoon together and she committed to being baptized on the 30th of June!!! KRASS ODER? But for real we are pulling for her and hope it goes well. I ended by talking to her about opposition because I feel like as soon as people just try to change for the better Satan literally throws annoying darts of hell at any possible chance he can. She has been on vacation with her family all week and her phone is out of coverage but she said she will call us Saturday. The whole district fasted and prayed for her on Tuesday which was way awesome!! Alma 6:6 anyone?

Saturday we had a street display in Coburg and this huge like protest broke out and out of nowhere there were like 12 armored cops around me and our table like protecting us In case anything broke out. It was nuts no lie but we just starting finding people again during the riot and ended up with 7 potentials!

Tuesday we had President interviews and he is just the man. I love President Boyer. His wife is going through a hard time right now with her family and he is just carrying the mission and his family so well. We also got two new areas in our mission from Berlin this past week.

Wednesday was ZOCO and we were challenged again to read all of the topical guide headings relating to Jesus Christ. President Nelson gave this invitation a few years ago and when he did it he said it changed his life and he was 91 and an apostle so I am so excited to learn more about the Savior and because of that I will understand him more and want to be like him more. And President Nelson promised it will help us resist the temptation of sin and who in this world right now couldn’t use more strength to resist sin than us right now? Maybe it’s just me idk.....

Then I had an awesome split with my man Elder Johnson our ZL and he is just a stud I look up to him a bunch I love the guy and his spirit he always has.
Today was awesome we played dunk ball for 4 hours with all the boys and the AP’s. It’ll be the last time I see Elder Warr before he heads home in 2 weeks. We were in the MTC together. Freaking nuts. But he’s going to go ball out in college!

Love you all and love the letters. Special shoutout to the young women from the alpine cove ward for the awesome care package and letters this week!

Week 44- “The horse flys are bittin, but the fish never do.”

Probably try and keep this one pretty short!
The Mother’s Day call back home was amazing. So good to talk to my mom and family again. That time since the Christmas call flew by! I can’t believe we are already into May.

This week was the same old same old. We met with our friend Lara in the park again and just had like a way good lesson with her and she was excited. We talked a lot about baptism and the Holy Ghost and she was just digging the whole plan of Salvation. I will be on a split with one of my fav elders. Elder Monilla from Saudi Arabia and we are going to teach Lara and drop the baptismal date on her for the end of June! Pray for Lara

We met with Gustaf again before he takes a trip back to Sweden next week with his family and he just had a ton of “well the Bible could be saying this....” comments and then we just kept showing him Bible and Book of Mormon scriptures to address his concerns.

Other than that it has been just a ton of finding with my boy Elder Whitney. This week wore him out pretty bad but we had a way good time and found some cool new people at the college here.

Nuts that the school year is wrapping up, basketball season is wrapping up and the baseball season is fully in swing and then football will start up. People here are getting stoked for the World Cup to say the least.

Love you all have a good week! I’ll just be in Coburg Germany don’t worry.

Week 43- “We both know I’m training to become a cage fighter”

Ya so once upon a time this guy named Joseph Smith made up this way cool story. Let us tell you about it and brainwash you. So he says he saw God and Jesus Christ and then he made up writing a ton of really old ancient stories and then eventually got killed for it all.

That basically sums up how people this week have described us. Honestly just wish that people would take the time to look around and realize that there is a God and that everything didn’t just “smash together one day and we all evolved and now here we are.” So frustrating but I guess that is the world we live in.

We taught our friend Danny this week twice. The first lesson he came into it saying that he would never pray or acknowledge that there is a god and by the end, he said he promised to read the Book and he ended up saying the closing prayer. We met with him again yesterday and he had a ton of questions about Nephi but he was really enjoying Laman and Lemuel hahaha. He’s a funny dude.

We also taught Lara who is awesome but she had a ton of questions about why God would curse people or why he would hold the priesthood from Black people. But she also is now into second Nephi so she is reading. We finally have some investigators reading the Book of Mormon WOOOOO!

Other than that this week was full of finding and sweating and running around places. Super fun though. My personal studies have been jumping all around the scriptures studying Christ and it is just so incredible to learn something new about him every time. Jesus Christ is the son of God and the savior of the world. I love that man.

Today is a funny German holiday and I am currently sitting on a train with a group of 4 guys in front of me smashing some whiskey down the hatch and 2 rows in front of them we have a group of 12 women ages 40-60 literally mixing drinks in tiny cups and slamming them. And they are soooo freaking loud. Nothing more entertaining than seeing middle age women and grandmas pourin’ drinks and going crazy but these people honestly need some help. #standupdrank #sitdowndrank

They just barely they tried to take a selfie and 2 huge bottles of alcohol exploded everywhere! Karma sucks sometimes aye?

Can’t wait to talk to my mom and my family on Sunday!!! Holy freak yes!
Have a good week and happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.

Week 42- “Sorry Napoleon, we’re just runnin a little late for some Prime Rib.”

Schönen Guten Morgen.

This week was 7 days long. We saw miracles, had a drunk dude take the Book out of my comps hands and try running away, got laughed at a ton, our district got cut in half and taught some lessons. In between all of that was countless hours on the streets finding :)

Nah it was a way fun one though. Training is a blast but it for sure is a challenge and tests your patience. We have been having a way fun time and trying to stay positive out here. Saturday we got a call that the Bamberg would be getting emergency transferred to Paderborn and Karlsruhe to fill in some spots of missionaries going home so that was really sad. We went over there and helped them clean up and get everything ready for them to leave. Super sad I loved those guys and I love Bamberg. It was where I was when I first got trained in 2016 and no other Elder has been trained there since and now there are simply no missionaries in Bamberg ;(
We are out in the badlands now. I think we are closer to Berlin missionaries now rather than our own mission haha

That threw a wrench in our week because we are now in a district with Schweinfurt and Würzburg. 6 Elder district and we are super spaced out, we cover like half of the zone hahaha. But my man Elder Bringhurst is back in my district ðŸ‘€ðŸ˜Ž

We did a ton of finding this week and found a girl named Lara who we are meeting with on a Saturday to teach and she is way pumped about the Book of Mormon she even committed to reading a ton before we met. She is studying here in Coburg. I contacted her at first just asking her to read Ether 12:4 and tell me what she thought about it and then it just leads to an awesome conversation. The Book of Mormon and its spirit it brings works miracles. I’ve seen that so much just talking to people on the street this week about it and actually having it open for them to read. Pray for Lara. We also found a guy named Danny who we have hope for!

We taught a lesson to Gustaf, our awesome Swedish investigator last night but I feel like we are just running in circles with him. The guy is so awesome and smart and his family is amazing but he just won’t read the Book of Mormon. I showed him that Nephi and his family also had the Bible and were descendants of it but even then he was like the Bible is enough for me. Ahhh just so hard. He is mainly hung up on Joseph Smith being involved with Freemasons and what he has found about Brigham Young and Joseph Smith online but we were like dude, how can you judge the book without even reading it. It’s gonna be a slow one with him but someday it’s going to have to click for him. There’s just no way this guy can’t be a member of the restored gospel. He feels the spirit and we have pointed it out to him. He knows it’s true, he just needs to not dig so deep into Joseph Smith and the early prophets online.

If someone knows about Joseph Smith and his relation to Freemasons and what Freemasons are and do, let me know because I can’t look that stuff up out here. Way curious actually.

Other than that this week was awesome, it is getting warm and the sun is softening some peoples hearts for sure. God has a time and place for everything and I’m grateful to be apart of his “work and his glory”

Hopefully, the Yankees stay healthy and keep rolling and the Jazz can with keep the momentum.
Love you all, I appreciate the letters and support. Can’t wait to talk to my mom in a little over a week!
