Week 32 - "Fridge Fish Horse"

That week flew by!

Started off the week with our investigator telling us he won’t be able to meet this week but that he is 3/4 the way done with the Book of Mormon already and that we can come by next week. So we will se how that goes. We asked him how it was going and how he felt and he’s just like well it’s written a little awkward but it’s growing on me hahaha let’s gooooo! Also found a few more investigators this week which has been a major blessing. It has been so cold and we have just been working out guts out and praying so hard. It’s been really cool to see. The lord has been blessing us beyond measure. Ricardo showed up to church and we taught him more about the restoration and emphasis on the Book of Mormon! He’s an awesome kid pray for him! Pray for the Solingen investigators, they need all they can get!, ahhh let’s goooo

I had a split with Elder Adams this week. Way nice kid and great Elder. He is from good ole American Fork Utah and played in the legendary marching band. Those guys have like 30 state championships in a row. Funny how small the world of being a Mormon is.

Tuesday we had a district meeting and we have really been needing a new fridge here in Solingen because our mini fridge we have has been wigging out. We found that the Wuppertal elders had an extra one, so like any smart missionary would do, we got a dolly and jimmy rigged some workout bands to strap it down and we hauled that thing from Wuppertal to Solingen. We carried that thing up so many stairs. When we were getting our tickets checked on our train the guy was so confused  and I was just like “don’t worry, he’s riding with me.” But the fridge made it to our apartment safe and sound. #AmericansstuckinGermany

Also had a tender mercy from a sweet old lady we take the sacrament to. After our appointment last week she just handed me a letter and it had 30 Euro in it. She’s so awesome and loves us. Always a funny visit with my girl Inga!

Yesterday had President interviews and he is just the coolest guy ever. Could write a book about that man and his little family. Straight up warriors.

This week I’ve been thinking a ton about spiritual promptings. It’s been one of the best weeks on my mission, and I’ve learned so much through the spirit. I know that when we are in tune with the spirit and we act on those promptings, no matter how small they are. We, and the people we affect by them will be blessed. And the more we follow the promptings the more we will receive. I have a strong testimony of that.

Week 31- "The L word❤️"

This week was pretty Normal you could say. Except for Carnival hahaha people went bonkers! I even picked up some free candy off the street and ate it. On Monday night we hopped on a train back home and it was just packed with drunk people and everyone has painted faces and weird costumes. I asked some lady that was like 50 if she plays the guitar. (She was dressed up as a punk rocker with a blow up guitar) and we had a hilarious conversation. She thought I was being serious so she just explained to me how she’s tried to play the guitar but she just can’t figure it out🤣 she might have had a few too many beers. Funny stuff 

We have seen some awesome miracles up here though. We found two more solid investigators and taught some solid lessons with them. One of the guys was like “I’ll probably read the entire book by next Tuesday so come back then and we will discuss more.”

Haha I freaking love my District too. We set some district goals for the transfer that are just crazy but like we have full faith that the Lord supports us in them. All the elders have a ton of faith I love it! Puts lightning in your bones man.⚡️

Faith and action leads to miracles people. Can’t stress that enough 

Other than that we have been doing a ton of finding and knocking on doors. This week has been freezing or below the entire time and we were doing like 4-5 hours a day of knocking doors in it per day this week hahaha. I’ve never been more tired in my life but it’s worth it.

Nothing like having an old german not open his door because it’s so cold, but he will talk to you through the glass. You proceed to tell him about the Restored Gospel and the Book of Mormon as another testament of Jesus Christ and he tells you that he already knows enough about Christ and he already paid the catholic priest to bless his house this year so he’s good.  Menschenkinder!

This is the greatest work ever. Best job I ever had!

I have been reminded of the power that lies in The Book of Mormon. Preach my Gospel says “The Book of Mormon, combined with the Spirit, is your most powerful resource in conversion.” And it is so true! 

Yesterday was Valentines Day. Not the slightest difference in our day though. So funny how sheltered from the world we are as missionaries. We didn’t realize it was Valentine’s Day until we were going to bed last night.

I love you guys though! If anyone is lookin to hook me up with some potentials out here I wouldn’t be mad

Week 30- "refsnarT weN"

Been an interesting week for sure! 

Got our calls from President on Saturday and found out that Elder Winsborrow is going to open Zone leaders in Darmstadt for the Frankfurt Zone! Elder Webster also left our district to go be a zone leader in Nürnberg. And that I would be DL here in Solingen and my new comp is Elder Felix. He is from Bountiful and played tennis. Good kid and he likes to work so it’s been good.

Sunday our investigator showed up to church and loved it. She is way awesome! Also the less active showed up and was announced our newest member here in Solingen. We send Elder Winsborrow out on a good Sunday. Testimony meeting was really powerful and spiritual. Our investigator looks at me after church and was like “do I have to be a member to get up there and share my testimony?” I was like heck no you just go preach if you want.

Not too much has happened since then. We had some goodbye appointments and did some finding before Winsborrow left. He even cut my hair so that was fun seriously that man is a stud I miss him.

We are sitting in a haircut place right now and today is the first day of Carnival here in Germany so all the girls were threatening to cut Elder Felix’s tie and kiss him. I was dying! Honestly was low key waiting for them to do it.

We have a way young district. Im the oldest missionary in our district and I’m just starting my 6th transfer so we are all babies. Way pumped for this transfer and for our investigators we have and those that have yet to be found️ FINDING IS SO FUN  nah for real though it’s going to be a good one. It’s been freezing up here too. Just building some grit and character man.

I love the work of the lord. It’s an honor

Week 29 - "Last of the Mohicans"

Final week of this 7 week transfer. I can not believe it! We get transfer calls on Saturday and my boy Elder Webster in Wuppertal is for sure gone and Elder Winsborrow is possibly gone too. We will see though🤷🏻‍♂️

Met a guy coming back from P Day last week who somehow took the wrong train to Wuppertal trying to get home to Hamburg. We helped him buy a ticket and he knew about mormons and missionaries. Like he knew everything, had a convo with him, gave him the Wuppertal elders number in case he had anymore interest and he went on his way. Two nights ago he called Elder Webster and was like “I got home and randomly my Book of Mormon was out and it was right after I met you guys, you guys don’t believe in coincidences do you?” Haha he proceeded to ask what the baptismal questions are and he maybe wants to meet with the Hamburg elders. And get this.... Elder Webster’s best friend from home is the zone leader serving in Hamburg (Berlin mission) way cool story.

Friday we had a finding activity in Wuppertal and these Peruvian Indians set up shop in the middle of the mall place and played their music. I stopped buy and bought two of their cd’s hahahaha they’re incredible. After they stopped playing we talked to them for a while and they ended up all taking Book of mormons hahaha we were way pumped! One guy added me on Facebook and messaged me.

Who would’ve thought I’d be talking to Peruvians in Germany in german? You can’t make this stuff up! #missiontrip

They also taught us some Incan. We were like holy crap these guys are just straight descendants from the Book of Mormon

We had some really cool lessons with investigators this week that we are hoping and praying finally come to church! We also did a ton of Area Book work because we both felt that it needed to be done and we found 4 old investigators that want to meet again so we are stoked! One of the ladies is a Jehovas Witness that hasn’t been contacted since 2005 and I called her and asked her if she remembered us and wanted to meet again and she said “Actually my 46 year old daughter passed away last night so my life and family are a mess right now.” I was shook! I was like well we are praying for you and if there is anything you need let us know. She was way thankful and was like after this funeral and craziness is done let’s meet up again. 

Plan of Salvation anyone.....? #miracles

Last weekend we fasted for people to come to church and we were bummed when nobody did. We thought for sure! One of our investigators got sick the morning of and couldn’t make it. But Monday morning we got a call from my trainer in a neighboring area who said a less active who actually belongs to our ward (Solingen) randomly showed up to church with his step son who’s 16 that isn’t baptized and they are wondering what church to go to. We called them and they’re coming to Solingen Ward this week! Skkrrrtttt! Hahaha so ends up someone from our ward came to church they just went to the wrong ward we are wayyyyy excited and thankful. The lord has just been working crazy miracles and blessing us these past couple weeks.

That’s all I got for this week. No crazy stories haha. I’m nervous for transfers but I know it’ll all be good! I’m so blessed to have the privilege to be a servant of the Lord here in Germany! I’ve never worked harder or struggled more in my life but I’ve also never been happier. Funny how that works huh? Just because we go through hard things doesn’t mean we can’t still be happy. It’s just all part of the process. Believe and have faith in your journey and your personal process. God has a plan for you and he loves you. Rely on him and trust him.
